Joe Roddy & Sons  In the mid 60ies my Father Joe Roddy began Running trips to the  Skellig Islands. Today the Business is Run and managed by myself, Joe's Son Kenneth but Joe Still operates one of the Boats daily each Summer. We have a long family connection with the Skelligs, from the time when my Grandfather  and  Granduncles  served as Lighthouse Keepers on Skellig Michael. Following this, my Father also became a lighthouse keeper, and while he didn’t serve on the Skelligs himself, he was the forth generation of lighthouse keeper in the family. Joe has spent over 40 years running passenger trips to Skelligs and just like my brother and sisters before me, I started working with my Father when I was just 12 years of age spending everyday of my summer holidays on the Boat. My Father’s  lifetime involvement with the Skelligs and the knowledge he has passed on, has given me a great Love and respect for the Islands that motivates me greatly in the Running of the Business today. For us, the Skelligs means far more than just a job or even a Business, it has become a family tradition and a way of life that I too hope to pass on to my kids some day.
